On February 22nd, Voices of Change together with local residents of the Rironi area in Limuru Subcounty, and other stakeholders gathered to emphasize the importance of conserving Manguo Wetlands. This follow-up event built upon the activities initiated on February 1st, ensuring that efforts to restore and protect the wetland continue. Activities included cleanup operations and educational discussions focused on the significance of preserving Manguo Wetlands, which are at risk of degradation.

The event began with an extensive clean-up exercise in Rironi Town. Volunteers collected waste using gloves and garbage bags, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining a clean environment. The cleanup highlighted the role of community action in conservation by reducing pollution that could affect Manguo Wetlands.

Following the cleanup, participants moved to Fun Park and Gardens for the main event. The gathering included environmental activists, conservationists, students, community members, and government representatives, all focused on the restoration and preservation of Manguo Wetlands. Discussions and presentations covered the wetland's role in maintaining ecological balance, filtering water, and providing habitat for various species.

A notable part of the event was a speech by Hassan Greeve, Chairperson of PREPARED SOCIETY - KENYA. His talk addressed the consequences of wetland degradation and the need for collective action. He explained how wetlands contribute to climate resilience, flood control, and biodiversity conservation, encouraging community involvement in restoration efforts.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to organizations that participated in the February 1st event, recognizing their dedication to wetland conservation. These certificates served as a token of recognition and encouragement for ongoing efforts.

The event concluded with a call to action, requesting all stakeholders to remain committed to conserving Manguo Wetlands. Plans for continued awareness campaigns, policy advocacy, and community-driven initiatives were discussed to maintain the momentum.

Voices of Change is dedicated to the restoration of Manguo Wetlands, seeing it as a tangible mission requiring sustained collaboration and effort. The engagement of the participants in the February 22nd follow-up event underscores the collective resolve to protect this vital natural resource.
