Leading Environmental Restoration Efforts
Hussein leads the Wetlands Conservation initiative in Kenya, restoring ecosystems & empowering local communities while promoting environmental sustainability & livelihood improvement.
Manguo Wetlands store carbon, filter water, and prevent floods, making them crucial for climate resilience. They are home to endangered species and support local livelihoods through farming and fishing. Gazetting and protecting them will safeguard biodiversity, sustain communities, and ensure a healthier environment for future generations.
EGM does not currently have a dedicated team but focuses on developing changemakers through an annual 4–6 week summer program. Open to students at universities, with a special focus on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), this remote program offers students the opportunity to engage in research, data analysis, policy advocacy, and community engagement to advance sustainable mobility solutions.
